The DepHyze™ Revolution

For many decades prior to 1999, the U.S. military’s standard protocol for decontaminating soldiers/personnel, vehicles, and equipment against chemical and biological agents/contaminants was to wash them in concentrated bleach.  It was ineffective, destroyed treated equipment, and made soldiers sick.

Thus, in the 1990’s, the U.S. Department of Defense asked Sandia National Laboratory to come up with something better, a revolutionary formula for a new kind of decontaminant designed to safely and effectively neutralize virtually all types of biological and chemical warfare agents.

Sandia’s researchers developed a two part disinfectant and chemical decontaminant formula so effective, it even kills anthrax spores, but is safe enough for everyday household use.  Several hours after use, the formulation breaks down, becoming totally inert.  It is 100% biodegradable, non-toxic and can safely be rinsed down the drain.

Until just recently, this formulation was only available to the military, as well as certain federal agencies and first-responders.  In 2007, through a license agreement with Intelagard (official Sandia licensee), Tionicon will manufacture Sandia’s patented formula and make it available for the first time to the private sector.

DepHyze™ and Symagin are the trademarked names for Tionicon’s line of products using Sandia’s formulation, now commercialized for military, industry, and consumer use.
